NATIONAL INSURANCE PROGRAMS APPOINTS TWO SENIOR EXECUTIVES TO MANAGE CONVENTUS’ GROWTH

(Woodbridge, NJ)--June 13th 2003-- National Insurance Programs (NIP), organizer and parent of the Attorney-In-Fact for the Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, has appointed Barry M. Barron, CPCU, division President and Lyn W. Winters, CPCU, Vice President/Chief Underwriting Officer.

Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, New Jersey’s only physician owned and governed medical malpractice insurance reciprocal, was formed in 2002 to provide a solution to New Jersey’s medical malpractice insurance crisis.

"We are pleased to welcome Barry and Lyn to the NIP Management team. Their talent, experience and deep understanding of New Jersey’s medical malpractice market will help us manage Conventus’ growth and provide New Jersey physicians with stable, quality, affordable medical malpractice insurance over the long term," Mr. Augustyn commented.

Mr. Barron will lead the operations of the new division. Ms. Winters will be responsible for all underwriting operations.

Mr. Barron joins NIP following 25 years in leading the national healthcare business for Zurich North America, AIG and The St. Paul Companies. Mr. Barron earned a BBA at Temple University in Philadelphia where he majored in Economics with a minor in Insurance and Finance. He has participated in numerous executive education programs and earned his CPCU in 1988.

"I am thrilled to be joining NIP Management Company to focus on the growth of Conventus. Conventus is an outstanding alternative to the commercial medical malpractice insurance market. Physicians who join the Exchange will have greater control over the direction of the company ensuring that they will have affordable medical malpractice insurance coverage for many years to come."

Ms. Winters joins NIP with 25 years experience in various senior positions in underwriting at Princeton Insurance Company. Most recently she was AVP of Underwriting, responsible for both institutional and individual physician medical malpractice business. Ms. Winters is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, The New Jersey Chapter of the CPCU Society and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.

"Though I have spent most of my career underwriting medical malpractice insurance, I am very excited to become part of company that is both owned and governed by its physician-members. The Conventus approach is sorely needed in a market that has been plagued by insurance companies with conflicting priorities. Conventus has one main priority, providing stable coverage to New Jersey physicians, so we will not be distracted by other issues."

Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange is a not-for-profit, non-assessable reciprocal insurance exchange providing medical malpractice insurance in New Jersey. Conventus is a mutual-type insurance company, owned and governed by its physician policyholders. Conventus provides quality medical malpractice insurance coverage that is affordable over the long term to individual physicians and surgeons who conduct more than 75 percent of their practice in the state of New Jersey.
