Conventus Board of Governors Holds Quarterly Meeting: Organizes Committees
(Woodbridge, NJ) November 21st, 2003 – Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, New Jersey's only physician owned and governed medical professional liability insurance reciprocal, held its quarterly Board of Governors meeting.
The Board has completed the process of organizing several key committees which will advise the Exchange and has appointed a group of physicians to serve on each committee. Committees include Underwriting, Risk Management, Claims and Professional Affairs; each having specific responsibilities focused on supporting the operations of Conventus.

The Underwriting Committee shall advise on issues pertaining to coverage requirements of members, coverage issues and underwriting guidelines.
The Claims Committee reviews and analyzes claims and provides advice on the appropriateness of the procedure and care received by the patient. The committee brings a depth of understanding of the medical knowledge and a valuable opportunity for attorneys representing our policyholders to better prepare their defense.
The Professional Affairs Committee serves as the focal point for development of efforts to communicate with existing and prospective members on the benefits of the Exchange. The committee shall also advise the Board on public and community relations issues faced by the Exchange and its members.
The Risk Management Committee advises management to develop an effective risk management program designed to assist members in specific areas of their medical practice. The committee shall monitor all claims trends in order to identify focus areas and member activities requiring loss control evaluations.
