Conventus Holds First Practice Management Advisory Committee  Meeting
(Woodbridge, NJ) December 8, 2008
To further meet the needs of its member-owners and their practices, Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange has announced the formation of a Practice Management Advisory Committee.  Consisting of office and practice managers from Conventus-member practices around the state, the Practice Management Advisory Committee was created to foster the sharing of ideas and information between practices and Conventus to continually improve how we serve our members.  The inaugural Committee meeting was held Thursday, December 4th at Conventus’ headquarters in Woodbridge, New Jersey and included practice managers from seven offices throughout the state.

Committee members were introduced to Conventus team members in charge of risk management, claims and underwriting departments, and received updates on each area within the organization.  The majority of the meeting consisted of an open forum discussion to assess the most pressing needs of practice managers for the free risk management toolkits and claims advice available to all Conventus members. The new Conventus PtTRAC Patient & Test Tracking Software was demonstrated as an example of the many toolkits available free to physician offices, and practice managers were encouraged to discuss the various applications the software has demonstrated within their practice.

“After months of preparation and planning, we were very pleased with the attendee turnout and feedback for our first meeting,” said Patricia McBride, Conventus Senior Risk Management Consultant.  “The first meeting outlined our goals for the group as an ongoing committee, and attendees provided positive feedback and additional topic suggestions that we will incorporate in future meetings.”

“The office manager in a medical office is a key position in ensuring patient safety and quality care,” explained Susan Lieberman, Conventus Vice President of Risk Management.  “The Practice Management Advisory Committee aims to support this pivotal position with the most relevant and recent news affecting our insureds. This inaugural meeting was a great start to this pursuit.”

The Practice Management Advisory Committee joins the existing seven governance committees within Conventus.  In all, over 50 physician members actively participate in these governance committees: Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management, Professional Affairs, Nominating, Executive and Audit.

“Member satisfaction is a high priority for the Exchange and we want to ensure our members are receiving the support they require and deserve from us,” said Conventus President John Karlen.  “The new Practice Management Advisory Committee allows us to hear directly from the physician offices in an open forum, providing valuable information on how we can best serve them. We look forward to many more successful committee meetings fostering open dialog and a commitment to progress.”

What Physicians Say
ABOUT Conventus

"The physician ownership model is the only one that is proven to work in the long run to provide stable coverage at cost. In addition, Conventus is the only company that is actually governed by physicians, so the needs of New Jersey physicians are truly represented. In my opinion, the choice is an easy one."
